Armed with Righteousness

And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory. (1 Nephi 14:14)

Armed with Righteousness

I just had a glimpse of what it would feel like to be armed with righteousness and the power of God. It’s not holding a sword (unless it’s the sword of truth), or standing in fight stance, prepared for hand-to-hand combat.

No, to be armed with righteousness means to be filled with light because of the choices you have made throughout your life. Light that comes from the inside out, and that shines so brilliantly no darkness can be close to its presence.

Whose Side Are You On?

The army of God is a group of people who journeyed separately and made individual choices and learned the required lessons until arriving at this point in time of personal knowledge and testimony. They band together, and their cumulative righteousness shines like a beacon and becomes the ultimate defensive weapon.
I see myself as an individual in that army, my own light bright and inextinguishable, armed with righteousness, brightly and brilliantly shining, calm, firm, and secure in the knowledge that I am on His side.
“We were born for eternal glory…foreordained to be women of God. We are women of faith, virtue, vision, and charity. We are not panicked about perfection, but we are working to become more pure. And we know that in the strength of the Lord we can do all righteous things because we have immersed ourselves in His gospel.” (Sheri L. Dew, “We Are Women of God,” October 1999.)
